The story of Winnie Foster (Alexis Bledel), a teenage girl on the cusp of maturity. Winnie longs for a life outside the control of her domineering mother, and when lost in the woods near her home, she happens upon Jesse Tuck (Jonathan Jackson), a boy unlike any she's ever met before. He and his family are kind and generous, and they immediately take her in as one of their own. However, the Tucks hold a powerful secret, and Winnie must decide whether to return to her life or stay with the Tucks.

Based on the book of the same name by Natalie Babbitt, a girl falls for a guy who is part of a family of immortals. The premise of the story is interesting and the concept of immortality is treated well here. The love story between the two leads, played by Alexis Biedel and Jonathan Jackson, is too simple and mundane for my tastes. There were several lines that induced an eye roll from me and some were over the top for a budding romance. Ben Kingsley plays the villain and does a good job, but his motivation and plans didn’t seem to work within the narrative very well. If you might be into a romance movie with a fantasy twist, then I’d recommend checking this movie out.
