The story of Winnie Foster (Alexis Bledel), a teenage girl on the cusp of maturity. Winnie longs for a life outside the control of her domineering mother, and when lost in the woods near her home, she happens upon Jesse Tuck (Jonathan Jackson), a boy unlike any she's ever met before. He and his family are kind and generous, and they immediately take her in as one of their own. However, the Tucks hold a powerful secret, and Winnie must decide whether to return to her life or stay with the Tucks.

The Tuck family, they're the villains of this story, right? What is their end game here? Kidnap or kill anyone who stumbles upon this fountain of youth? Because that's what they do. Tucks, if you really think your family is the only one worthy of immortality, try doing something to destroy the spring. Or at least do something to hide it from people who wander by. Wouldn't there also be a bunch of immortal animals around that water? Surely hunters or someone would notice by now a bunch of immortal deer. Also, Jesse Tuck, who admits to being 104 years old, wants to get with a 15-year-old girl. In the book she is only 10. This isn't me "overthinking" the story, this is the whole premise of the story. They kidnap and kill all those who find out about the spring water of immortality. And the whole time they’re like, "woah is me, to be forever young is a curse." These people are awful.

Based on the book of the same name by Natalie Babbitt, a girl falls for a guy who is part of a family of immortals. The premise of the story is interesting and the concept of immortality is treated well here. The love story between the two leads, played by Alexis Biedel and Jonathan Jackson, is too simple and mundane for my tastes. There were several lines that induced an eye roll from me and some were over the top for a budding romance. Ben Kingsley plays the villain and does a good job, but his motivation and plans didn’t seem to work within the narrative very well. If you might be into a romance movie with a fantasy twist, then I’d recommend checking this movie out.
