Turtles All the Way Down is not the best John Green novel adaptation, but it is not the worst either. A lot of care seems to have been put into it by the director, writers, and cast even if the narrative has issues here and there.

As a person with a lot of emotions and also an adolescent, this was one of the most imapactful book to movie adaptations I've ever watched. The characters felt incredibly human, and Aza doesn't strive for perfection simply for advancement. Every character was flawed, but not in a way that made you hate them, just in a way that makes them down to earth. Movie characters that are not morally perfect and have their flaws are the best to watch. They make the adaptation perfect. Cried almost every second of this movie. I cannot recommend it enough.

Acting feels forced and odd, the dialogue makes me think im watching something made by someone who’s never socialized a day in their life, and every scene seems like it was intentionally designed to make you as uncomfortable as possible. Regardless of what their idea was with this film, it just doesn’t matter. It doesn’t work. Wouldn’t recommend.

Turtles All the Way Down is dragged that direction by paper-thin characters and a generally unconvincing approach to adapting its source material, but John Green's story stands bright, cinematic, and relevant at the center, floated mostly by director Hannah Marks' unshakable passion for it.

This movie thinks it’s so deep…. It’s not. The last line is so bad it’s funny. If okay YA movies are your thing I guess you would like this one. I think you should spend your time watching better films though.
