Given these fundamental caveats, Deceived is diverting, if disposable, fun. Director Damian Harris knows how to keep an audience's attention. Go to Full Review

Deceived opens with an ancient thriller formula, elevates itself to passages of genuine suspense, and then ends with a climax so absurd that it takes a real effort of memory to recall that parts of the movie were really pretty good. Go to Full Review

The problem with Deceived, and its rather hobblingly bland title, is not so much Hawn as a premise which doesn't quite know how to utilize its potential. Go to Full Review

Diana H @Mercedy 2d Goldie is always watchable. Not her best performance. I can see the director's fingerprints all over her acting. "Just stare into space, this scene doesn't need more than that." "Act passively here, you are the helpless victim." You can act helpless and stunned without looking comatose. Goldie is capable of more nuanced performances. There are a few, "Oh, I didn't expect that" moments. And a few, really? They were dropping clues, somewhat improbably clues, all over the place when Adrienne (Goldie) begins to suspect her husband is keeping something from her. John Heard shines. It's as if the director said, "Okay, John, this is your movie. Goldie is just a prop." It not possible to go into detail without giving too much away. Just say he is convincing. There are questions I would like to ask, holes in the plot. So, just 2 1/2 stars, but if you're in the mood for a thriller, this movie tries its best. See more David C @Davec26 Dec 28 Refreshingly a thriller were it doesn't take 3 acts for someone to question a clue. Goldie Hawn shows she can deliver a strong dramatic performance in a better than average movie ably supported by John Heard. See more Farah R. @Farah Dec 24 While not on par with the iconic thrillers of the 90s, Deceived is intriguing and well-acted. Goldie Hawn proves she can command a more serious role, especially with a strong lead like John Heard. Overall, the film is entertaining and well executed. Goldie Hawn and John Heard seem ideal until they aren't! I buy dvds of films I really like, and this is one of those! Three other old thrillers: Perfect Murder with Gwyneth Paltrow and Michael Douglas; Jagged Edge with Glenn Close and Jeff Bridges; What Lies Beneath with Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford also are cast with men who betray convincingly! See more Liam D @Mediawatcher2003 03/23/2024 Goldie Hawn (CrissCross, Cactus Flower) and the late John Heard (C.H.U.D., The Seventh Sign) give surprisingly strong performances in an typical 90s thriller that tries to be like Hitchcock but with an silly conclusion See more Read all reviews
