For a movie that should be about high stakes, all-or-nothing risks, there was almost no heat until the last quarter of the movie. Go to Full Review

What’s curious is that “Clika” spends so much time on things it doesn’t know how to do well, and so little on the most enjoyable element here: any scene where JayDee is singing. Go to Full Review

What [Clika] glaringly sheds in its performances and direction is some of the sturdiness of a more traditional Hollywood production. But that also matters less in a movie like this, one clearly made, with love and belief, by and for the people it centers. Go to Full Review

Música Mexicana fans are likely to appreciate the fact that this drama is rooted in the genre, but it's pretty stiff, formulaic stuff, and it doesn't effectively capture the vibrancy of the music. Go to Full Review
Carla Hay Culture Mix Jan 23
Clika is an amateurish drama that wants desperately to be like Eminem's 8 Mile, but it's as appealing as a rusty microphone. This story (about a wannabe music star caught up in drug dealing) has stale clichés. The acting performances are stiff. Go to Full Review
Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Jan 23
This earnest coming-of-age drama adheres to a generic rags-to-riches framework. It’s not nearly as compelling when the tunes aren’t playing. Go to Full Review

Rene 16h Kinda predictable but had a little twist!! Good choice!! See more Isabel 1d I Loved the story. This was a really great movie. Too many haters out there. See more Oswaldo P 1d Clika is Rancho Humilde’s version of 8-Mile/Belly/Paid In Full/etc. It’s not a bad movie and the music is what absolutely makes the movie a 2 start movie but the story, while a good one, wasn’t told/written well enough and was almost predictable. Jay Dee is a first time actor and it shows but his voice is truly unique and arguably a legend in the “corridos alterados/verde” genre but this movie, if graded, is a solid C. See more Oscar 3d Good movie with a good message. See more Megan 4d As a person who is partical Hispanic decent, I’m very proud and very touched by this movie. I highly recommend watching this.
