Jeffrey P 06/26/2023 Probably better served not being an 'Amityville' movie. The subplots, surprisingly, worked well here, usually subplots like that do not mesh well. It does become surprisingly brutal and gory and somehow worked better than expected. See more rob l 10/05/2022 This was actually some thing that resembled a movie. See more 11/29/2021 The Amityville Harvest might be set in Amityville — which is more than so many in the series can say — but it also has a vampire that encounters a documentary crew so it was none of that whole "is it supernatural or not?" questions that the series usually deals with. Then again, there have been Amityville sharks and werewolves now, not to mention Amityville Vampire. This time, the aforementioned documentary crew visits the home of a man who says that he has a story to tell about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. It turns out that Vincent Miller (Kyle Lowder, who was on Days of Our Lives as Brady Black for two decades) is a former Confederate soldier turned vampire who doesn't show up on anything the crew records, which is a nice touch. There are also ghosts and zombies, in case this movie needed more things to happen, as well as Yan Birch from The People Under the Stairs and the face of Pazuzu Eileen Dietz. It's also one of three Amityville movies that Thomas J. Churchill has directed and written for Lions Gate, who really seem like they should be above such matters. That's probably why everyone watches — and talks about — the director's 2014 movie The Day of the Living Dead. I guess there's something for everyone unless you're, you know, looking for an actual Amityville movie. See more Chris J 10/25/2021 Amityville Harvest - R (1h 33m) 2020 - Horror, Thriller 3.5/5 stars So where to start! Directed by Thomas J. Churchill and staring Kyle Lowder and Sadie Katz. This is what started my journey, so I knew of a handful of Amityville films. At least up through the remake. I saw someone randomly review this and thought, well I have the Scream Factory/ Shout! Factory set, I have the Vinegar Syndrome set and I have the remake, so I should buy this new one that came out. Then when I was entering it in my database I saw the mention of it being the 20+ in the series. I assumed this was an error, and down the rabbit hole I went. This is one of the few sequels that I feel was a worthy follow-up to the original Amityville films. While there wasn't a ton of connections, there was more than others had to offer. What shocked me the most was the quality throughout. There may have been a few moments when I realized I wasn't watching a blockbuster but overall I truly felt that this was a big screen film. That's not to say that the smaller independent feeling ones are bad bad it was nice to see this get the love it deserves. The irony is that I enjoyed this, especially Lowder's role and Churchill's direction far more than the bigger budget ones (Awakening and Haunting!) Churchill is also in preproduction on "Amityville Moon" and "Amityville Rising" in definitely excited to check those out as well! Up next is "Amityville Poltergeist" and then the only other I have access to is "Amityville Vampire" (with the connection that "Harvest" had to vampires, I'll be interested to see how that one plays out in comparison.) #amityvilleharvest #amityville28 See more 03/28/2021 Worst horror movie ever not even scary at all no jump scares nothing and it was so fake looking See more 01/17/2021 It was ok. Not sure if I would watch it again. The acting was TERRIBLE. The only actors who were actually good in this were the main vampire dude, the guy investigator, and the girl who was the photographer. The color was weird. Not sure if that was intentional or how they filmed it or what. Probably wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I can't believe Lions Gate put this out. See more Read all reviews
