Movies TV Shows
Shelter (2026) 62% EDIT “Most of the things this movie does have been done better in the past, usually by other Jason Statham vehicles also released in January. ” – Splice Today Jan 30, 2026 Full Review Rebel with a Clause (2025) EDIT “It's not a lecture, or even a top-down declaration about the proper use of gerunds, split infinitives and the Oxford Comma. Instead it's a series of friendly, respectful conversations. ” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 29, 2026 Full Review The Wrecking Crew (2026) 75% EDIT “Features well-executed over-the-top action set pieces, first-rate banter between the two stars, consistent humor, and a fine use of Hawaii locations.” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 29, 2026 Full Review Mercy (2026) 24% EDIT “Starts as a certain kind of bad movie- boring, convoluted, and inert, while not making much use of its unconventional style. At the end, though, it becomes something much worse.” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 23, 2026 Full Review A Private Life (2025) 81% EDIT “A movie that has a lot going on, perhaps too much. Its tonal shifts are overwhelming, but it does contain an outstanding Jodie Foster performance.” – Splice Today Jan 23, 2026 Full Review Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart (2026) 100% EDIT “Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart is valuable in that it gives the now 38-year-old Elizabeth her say, on camera, and shares the story that her voice has too often been left out of. ” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 23, 2026 Full Review 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026) 92% EDIT “Improves what worked in the last film, while also introducing some compelling ideas. It’s also a much more aesthetically enjoyable picture than the previous film.” – Splice Today Jan 15, 2026 Full Review Father Mother Sister Brother (2025) 81% EDIT “It quickly transcends its gimmick, mostly because it’s about something much more crucial than coffee or cigarettes: Namely, family, and how parents and children fracture over time. ” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 15, 2026 Full Review One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 (2025) EDIT “Like the show’s endgame in microcosm: There’s some interesting stuff here, but it’s way longer than it needed to be.” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 15, 2026 Full Review Song Sung Blue (2025) 78% EDIT “For its first and third acts, an inspirational, fun story of these adorable underdogs, cheerfully singing Diamond tunes to adoring audiences, with Hugh Jackman doing a lot of heartfelt singing. The second act is a dark parade of miseries” – Splice Today Jan 9, 2026 Full Review Peaches Goes Bananas (2024) EDIT “What it’s like for a transgressive artist to reach late middle age is a frequent topic of documentaries, about music and other things. This one handles it much better than most. ” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions (2025) 100% EDIT “A dynamite cinematic essay, comprised of a history lesson, an exploration of Encyclopedia Africana, and a trip aboard an Afro-futurist ship across the Atlantic. ” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review Paul Anka: His Way (2024) EDIT “Doesn’t break much new ground, but it does show Anka as a compelling character and big personality, with great stories to tell.” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review The Merchants of Joy (2025) EDIT “A fun documentary about the surprisingly competitive, but not as cutthroat as you might think, Christmas tree industry in New York City.” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review The New Yorker at 100 (2025) 64% EDIT “Director Curry does a good job balancing the history with stories about New Yorker writers today” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review Breakdown: 1975 (2025) 77% EDIT “It’s very fun, making strong choices about talking heads, narration, and clips. But it doesn’t really go anywhere new” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review Age of Audio (2025) EDIT “The history is pretty straightforward, which doesn’t depart far from the conventional wisdom” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review The Age of Disclosure (2025) 27% EDIT “Almost entirely consists of former government and military officials saying that they have seen such evidence, but not providing any of it.” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review Corey Feldman vs the World EDIT “One of those documentaries that’s so ridiculous that it feels like a mockumentary.” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review The Chronology of Water (2025) 90% EDIT “ It’s tough stuff, but it ultimately works.” – The SS Ben Hecht Jan 9, 2026 Full Review Primate (2025) 78% EDIT “An enjoyably ridiculous movie, which begins as a high-concept horror concept which gradually becomes more and more ridiculous, until by the end it’s a comedy.” – Splice Today Jan 9, 2026 Full Review She Rides Shotgun (2025) 88% EDIT “The kind of film that I think is going to be looked upon very positively, years from now, possibly after the director has made more movies.” – The SS Ben Hecht Dec 25, 2025 Full Review Henry Fonda for President (2024) 83% EDIT “The clips are well-chosen, but I don’t know, this exercise is a bit too overlong and chin-stroking for my taste. ” – The SS Ben Hecht Dec 25, 2025 Full Review Dance Freak (2025) EDIT “Seems like a potential cult hit, aimed at people who like Tim Robinson’s stuff but don’t think it’s weird or antisocial enough.” – The SS Ben Hecht Dec 25, 2025 Full Review Where to Land (2025) EDIT “The farce part is fun, but I really liked it as a hangout movie, with likable New York actors having nice scenes with one another. ” – The SS Ben Hecht Dec 25, 2025 Full Review
