Based on the DC comic "Green Lantern," drama series "Lanterns" follows new recruit John Stewart and "Lantern" legend Hal Jordan. These two intergalactic cops are drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. In association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, the HBO series provides a fresh live action take on the popular universe and its characters. Emmy nominee Chris Mundy serves as showrunner and executive producer for this original detective story.

The Green Lantern mythos is too goofy to be grounded no matter how much swearing or sex is added in. I’d rather HBO had hired co-creator Damon Lindelof to make another season of Watchmen instead.

This series destroys the Green Lantern lore. It’s a festival of absurdity that has absolutely nothing to do with the characters. I’m praying to God that this series ends soon. It feels like they took elements from the comics just to use the Green Lantern name while completely ignoring the essence, history, and everything that made these characters so important. It’s honestly hard to watch and recognize the story that is supposedly being adapted.

Green Lantern Season 1 is absolutely top-notch. The storyline is gripping, the character development and hero arc are really well done, and the actors do an incredible job of bringing the story to life. Every episode builds on the last and leaves me wanting to see what happens next. The pacing, performances, and overall storytelling have been excellent so far. Easily one of those shows where finishing an episode just makes you want to start the next one straight away.
